The WSP team has been supporting clients in various sectors in exploring their ambitions to develop a nature-based targets. Within our organization, we have in-house ecologist and technical experts.

We lead a specialist team of biodiversity and natural capital experts providing a diverse range of services to our clients. This includes natural capital assessments and accounting, biodiversity net gain assessment and strategies, Nature Positive and TNFD readiness. We work at the forefront of developing best practice and thought-leadership on nature, for example, leading WSP’s TNFD service offer globally and supporting our clients to understand and be ready for forthcoming TNFD-aligned reporting requirements.

Our team has extensive experience preparing the wildlife and biodiversity components of environmental impact assessments. She has applied a variety of best practice approaches to the assessment and monitoring of biodiversity according to municipal, provincial, federal and international requirements, including the International Finance Corporation Performance Standard 6 (IFC PS6). Kristine applies the mitigation hierarchy to minimize impacts to biodiversity and works closely with her clients to identify opportunities where impacts can be avoided during the planning phase. Kristine has conducted audits to assess project compliance with Equator Principles and IFC PS6. More recently, Kristine has been providing technical and strategic advice to clients regarding emerging requirements and opportunities related to business and nature, such as reporting under global disclosure frameworks and incorporating nature-based solutions into project life-cycles.

Our team of ecologists at WSP can support all steps of SBTN guidance with a full understanding of the implications of selected targets and how to demonstrate success. Our extensive experience implementing mitigation and monitoring results gives us unique insight into Steps 4 and 5 (Act and Track). This insight, combined with our depth of understanding of nature and biodiversity, allows us to provide meaningful guidance on sustainability goals.
