Led by a cooperative of environmental NGOs, the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) is a global initiative empowering companies and cities to set ambitious, science-based targets to address their environmental impacts. SBTN is part of the Global Commons Alliance: a growing coalition of scientists, philanthropists, businesses, civil society groups and innovators collaborating across the climate and nature communities and beyond. Its mission is to mobilize citizens, companies, cities, and countries to accelerate systems change and become better guardians of the global commons.

Description

This role will be essential in planning, implementing, and managing programs and projects that support SBTN engagement, while monitoring and evaluating program performance for effectiveness and improvements. They will communicate with key stakeholders to ensure positive relationship management and provide administrative and logistical support across the team.

Primary responsibilities

The job holder will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the growth of key engagement programs, including the SBTN Corporate Engagement Program and the SBTN Referral Program. This includes (but is not limited to) creating program materials, planning and coordinating events, drafting and sending regular communications, and maintaining the relevant web pages for these programs.
  • Convene and support the management of NGO partner working groups. This includes one global working group, led by SBTN, and several regional working groups, led by SBTN partners with support from SBTN.
  • Manage projects and support product development that relates to corporate and partner engagement. This includes future iterations of the SBTN Corporate Manual, as well as other tools development, pilot-testing, and training. The job holder will need to manage interdependencies among various projects.
  • Build and maintain databases and update contact lists. This includes tracking and recording customer journey information, end-user engagement with SBTN programming, payments, and membership materials. Contact lists must be updated regularly.
  • Respond to inbound “front desk” inquiries and collect end-user feedback. You will be primarily responsible for managing the corporate engagement email address for SBTN and will need to monitor and coordinate appropriate responses.
  • Monitoring program progress and performance, resolving issues through collaborative and creative problem-solving as they arise. This includes developing and tracking success metrics, pivoting strategy with input from relevant team members, and developing short- and long-term solutions to engagement and growth challenges.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the program goals, objectives, and outcomes are met. Provide administrative and logistical support to Technical and Communications teams as needed. Support knowledge management, budget tracking, and organizational strategy development.

Requirements

Experience/Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams at once.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in fluent English.
  • Effective time management. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once, while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving abilities, as well as flexibility and adaptability. Must be able to handle complex and dynamic issues that may arise during the SBTN development-phase, and implications of those on programs and projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Ability at times to work longer hours to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create impactful presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with a legal team on contract-related issues.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com, WordPress, and/or Mailchimp is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a JEDI focus is important.

Terms and conditions 

SBTN is hosted by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Employment contract would therefore be with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. At certain times of the year travel to team meetings will be required. These meetings are sometimes in the U.S., sometimes in Europe and occasionally in other parts of the world.
