SBTN at COP17 Armenia
Date:
19 October 2026 – 30 October 2026
Location:
Yerevan, Armenia
The seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is taking place from October 19–30 in Yerevan, Armenia. COP17 Armenia “brings the world together for a shared purpose: to act for nature and the well-being of communities and future generations.”
The Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) will be participating in COP17, demonstrating the growing momentum around the leading target-setting approach for corporate action on nature.
Spotlighting Science-Based Targets for Nature 2.0
Science-Based Targets for Nature 2.0 – the next phase in SBTN’s corporate methods and guidance – will be released ahead of COP17 on October 13, 2026.
In Armenia, SBTN will put Science-Based Targets for Nature 2.0 in the spotlight – showing how it gives companies more ways to begin and progress, offering broader target coverage, more practical guidance, and a more stable basis for long-term implementation.
We’ll also continue to build on the momentum shared ahead of Climate Week NYC, with a new wave of companies sharing their credible progress on science-based targets – and the business benefits they’re seeing from the journey.

Addressing Land Use and Land-Use Change: Bridging Corporate Practice and Science-Based Approaches
🕜16:45–17:45
📍COP17 Green Zone
🏠Entreprises pour l’Environnement (EPE), WBCSD, SBTN
Land-use and land-use change are among the main drivers of biodiversity loss globally and sit at the intersection of the three Rio Conventions. As governments prepare for CBD COP17, UNCCD COP17 and UNFCCC COP31, land-related issues are increasingly emerging as a common priority across biodiversity, climate, land degradation and sustainable finance agendas. Companies and financial institutions are already taking action through a wide range of approaches, including sustainable sourcing, regenerative agriculture, ecosystem restoration, territorial partnerships, nature-based solutions, sustainable infrastructure planning and urban regeneration. However, significant challenges remain regarding prioritization, implementation, measurement, governance, financing, and scaling. This roundtable will explore how science-based approaches, landscape initiatives, and practical business experience can help accelerate action on land use and land-use change.
