SBTN’s regional initiative in Australia & Aotearoa / New Zealand was led by Nature Positive.

In 2024, the group focused on raising local awareness and interest in SBTN. The initiative delivered a series of workshops focused on business needs, building internal cases for nature action, and practical steps for SBTN implementation. It also hosted the “SBTN: Unpacked” event in Auckland, attracting nearly 100 participants for the introductory session and 40 for the technical workshop.

Additional efforts included supporting SBTN outreach at the Global Nature Positive Summit and conducting a regional survey, which showed early but growing interest in nature target-setting, especially among export-driven companies responding to CSRD expectations.

SBTN extends its appreciation to Nature Positive for their leadership and coordination. With this strong foundation established, the Australia and New Zealand Working Group is now paused, and SBTN will revisit future opportunities to continue regional collaboration when appropriate.
