SBTN Launches Step Up for Nature – a new way to turn ambition into impact

Today, the Science Based Targets Network launches the Step Up for Nature initiative so companies can collectively signal their ambition for credible nature action. To participate, companies share their next intended step and timeline toward setting science-based targets for nature.

By stepping up together, leading companies send a clear signal that, even in uncertain times, business is moving forward with integrity and momentum toward global goals for nature. With the 2026 Global Stocktake approaching next year, this initiative will demonstrate how companies are helping deliver measurable outcomes for nature – putting the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework into action.

To help build momentum for the initiative, the Accountability Accelerator – independent validation host for science-based targets for nature –will offer the first 25 companies to submit work for validation through Step Up for Nature a 50% reduction in validation service fees.
